Zach & Amanda’s Beautiful, Snow-Kissed Elopement | Eloping in Shenandoah in the Spring

Zach and Amanda chose to elope in Shenandoah National Park, a decision that was rooted in their love for adventure, each other, and most importantly, their faith. Before heading up to their ceremony spot, they gathered with their closest family and friends at Rappahannock Pizza Kitchen in Luray, VA. It was a sweet, intimate pre-reception where they laughed, signed their marriage license, and shared a meal with their loved ones before saying their vows.

Little Stony Man Summit – A Perfectly Intimate Ceremony Location

After lunch, we made our way to their ceremony site—Little Stony Man Summit. This spot is absolutely perfect for small, intimate gatherings (we’re talking 10 people or fewer). The hike isn’t too strenuous, the views are jaw-dropping, and the setting is ideal for couples who want a private, breathtakingly beautiful backdrop for their vows.

Now, let’s talk about their wedding day weather. It was COLD. Like, bone-chilling, snow-falling, fingers-going-numb kind of cold. But just as their ceremony began, something magical happened. The clouds parted, and golden sunbeams streamed through the sky, illuminating the snowy landscape like something straight out of a storybook. It was one of those undeniable God-centered moments—a true blessing over their marriage.

Zach and Amanda, both deeply rooted in their faith, wanted their ceremony to be Christ-centered. They shared in communion, prayed together, and had their dear friend (who is becoming a pastor) officiate their vows. It was emotional, intentional, and so full of love. Their joy was infectious—Amanda’s beaming smile and laugh lit up the entire mountainside, despite the freezing temperatures. Zach couldn’t take his eyes off her, and honestly, neither could anyone else. It was that beautiful.

Bringing a Dog to Your Shenandoah Elopement? Here’s What to Know

Amanda and Zach brought their pup along for the ceremony, which made the day even more special. Technically, Little Stony Man’s trail has a no-dog policy, but in my experience, as long as couples bring someone designated to hold and guide their pup, it’s usually not an issue. If you’re dreaming of having your four-legged best friend at your elopement, just be sure to plan ahead and have a helper on hand!

Planning a Spring Elopement in Shenandoah? Here’s What You Need to Know:

  1. Be Ready for Anything Weather-Wise – Spring in Shenandoah is wild. You might get warm sunshine or a surprise snowfall within the same week. Layers are your best friend!
  2. Small, Intimate Locations Are Key – Spots like Little Stony Man Summit are perfect for elopements, but they can’t accommodate large groups. Keeping your guest list small (or eloping just the two of you!) ensures you have a stress-free, private experience.
  3. Consider a Pre-Reception – Just like Zach and Amanda did, gathering with family for a meal before your ceremony is a great way to include them while still keeping the actual ceremony intimate.
  4. Embrace the Adventure – Shenandoah’s unpredictable nature is part of its charm. Whether you get golden sunlight or surprise snowflakes, it will be your perfect day.

Zach and Amanda’s Shenandoah elopement was nothing short of magical—proof that when you focus on what truly matters, the day unfolds exactly as it’s meant to. If you’re dreaming of an intimate, scenic, adventure-filled elopement in Shenandoah, I’d love to help capture every breathtaking moment.
